'Hainault Junction' is the name of Erith Model Railway Society's four track continuous run layout.

Built by members of the club, to 4mm or 'OO' scale, this layout represents a busy mainline junction on the Southern/Western region borders.

Passenger Trains serving Hainault consist of long distance express trains, like the Torbay Express and the Atlantic coast express, and local trains of the Southern and Western region. Freight services with long van, tank and mixed freights also pass through.

Also co-located to the rear of the station, is a large Motive Power Depot, servicing both steam and diesel traction, and passing trains from both directions occasionally stop to change locomotives, providing some interesting movements!

There is a working turntable, coaling stage, sheds, and ash pits installed; this is run by one person independently.

Trains passing busy MPD Branch terminus with 14XX & Auto – train Goods yard with pick-up goods arriving

To the other end of the station is Hainault yard, where local goods trains are marshalled and shunted, and this forms the second independent unit run by one person.

To the front of the Main station is a through platform, and a bay platform from where a branch line runs up to a small station. This again can be run fully independently from the four main lines, and traffic on this section includes DMU’s, Single unit railcars, and occasional steam operated Autotrains or suburbans which can be run round at the far end of the branch.

The branch has some small freight facilities and occasional small freight trains are run.

Hainault has been extensively renovated this year and continues to delight both young and old wherever it goes. We are only to pleased to accept invitations. Please note this layout is not available for 1 day exhibitions.
